Celebrate National Young Readers Day!

National Young Readers Day!

National Young Readers Day is a reading celebration annually on the second Tuesday in November. The day was established in 1989 by the Library of Congress and Pizza Hut to promote literacy and encourage children to develop a love of reading.

Here are some ways to celebrate National Young Readers Day:

  • Read together: Reading aloud to children can help them build reading skills and strengthen your bond with them.
  • Visit the library: Take your children to the library to explore books and discover new stories.
  • Donate books: Donate books to local schools, libraries, or children in need, e.g., Share Our Spare, Cradles to Crayons, etc.
  • Teach the benefits of reading: Explain to children how reading can improve their knowledge, vocabulary, and creativity.
  • Attend book signings: Many authors participate in the celebration by having book signings.
  • Read to children: Reading to children at a young age can help them develop language skills and learn sounds that form language. It can also help with math and musical skills.
  • Build a child’s library: A diverse array of books helps a child build creativity, critical thinking skills, and empathy. Just in time, my online bookstore is having a huge sale!
