What makes Mirella Alexis and her team different?
Mirella is a childcare advocate, first and foremost. Nannies, birth workers, and domestic workers are often overlooked and not given the same respect as other professions, although their work is some of the most important and difficult work to do. Mirella has dedicated her life to elevating the childcare field because she believes families and childcare professionals should work together to build a better community, one child at a time.
What is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula provides information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care.
A postpartum doula helps a new family in the first days and weeks after bringing home a new baby. Research shows that a good support team makes this transition easier for moms, dads, and babies.
Why hire a Postpartum Doula?
Most new parents will tell you that navigating through those first few days after bringing home a new baby is anything but easy! Even for the most experienced parents, bringing home a new baby means changing routines, dividing time, and just trying to figure out how to juggle it all.
This is where the help of a postpartum doula can be just the answer these parents are looking for. Postpartum doulas assist families who are bringing home a new baby, whether that is through birth or adoption.
What type of services do you provide?
As a postpartum doula, many services are offered to clients, but my main goal is to help “mother the mother” and nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn. This would include doing things to help mom and dad feel more confident in their roles, sharing education on family adjustment, and tending to the unique needs of a new mother.
As a labor and postpartum doula, I work with each family individually to determine their particular needs.
What is a Sibling Doula?
A Sibling doula is there to provide emotional support and care to your child while they transition into their new role as a big sibling! It can be during the days and evenings while you are at the hospital giving birth.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit cards, CashApp, PayPal, UrbanSitter, Venmo, and Zelle are accepted. If paying with a credit card, you will receive an invoice.
What’s your hiring policy?
All Mirella Alexis team members and those placed into placements must follow the same policy. All must submit a resume, have verified work experience and certification in the field, submit 3 professional references (non-family) and one personal reference, pass a background check, go through 2 interviews, be CPR and first-aid certified (every year), be vaccinated, and have a clean driving record.
